National conference titled: “Model Forest – an initiative in Albania, a case study: Voskopoja region” was organized in Peza commune, near Tirana. At the conference were present 45 participants from government institutions, scientific and educational institutions, local government units, different NGOs and associations, students, representatives from eight districts of Forest Services in Albania, etc.
For this event of the national significance AMF partner have presented and disseminated AMF communication materials as brochures, leaflets, posters and other promotional deliveries on Albanian language regarding the Model Forest project.
Prof. Dr. Hajri HASKA has opened the conference and after him audience were greeted by Prof. Dr. Vath TABAKU, Dean of the Faculty of Forestry Sciences, Agricultural University of Tirana then MSc Ylli HOXHA, Director of Forestry, at the Ministry of Environment then Mr. Arsen SELIMI, Director of the Forest Service, Korca region, Ministry of Environment representative from Peza commune and Janaq MALE – Director of CNVP foundation, etc.
The program continued with several presentations: “What is a Model Forest¬? Participation of Albania in Adriatic Model Forest Project – development, implementation and future perspectives” by Prof. Dr. Hajri HASKA ; “Contribution of the agricultural practices to the Model Forest” by Prof. Dr. Fatos HARIZAJ ;“ Forest ecosystems in the framework of the Model Forest project” by Prof. Dr. Vath TABAKU ; “Natural resources and the Model Forest” by Dr. Marsela LUARASI ; “Involvement of the women in the implementation of the Model Forest project in Voskopoja region” by Prof. Asc. Dr. Irena KALLCO; “Community contribution in Model Forest in Voskopoja region” by Mr. Nexhip BACELLI; “Tourism in Vosopoja region and the Model Forest” by Tourism office in Voskopoja.
Conference program proceeded with open discussion, opinions and suggestions of the participants while the moderators were Hajri HASKA and Marsela LUARASI. Participation was very high and many issues were discussed that gave to the present audience a chance to further understand and learn about the Model Forest and its establishment in Albania. After the conference was concluded by Prof. TABAKU, interested participant continued to discuss freely and in smaller groups about the Model Forests’ future development in Albania.
All the materials emerged from the National conference will be published in a Proceedings’ book in about 200 copies. After a great success of the National conference and a Voskopoja Model Forest initiative that is both achieved out of AMF project, Albanian partner will also proceed with publication titled: “Model Forest, a contemporary initiative in natural resource management – Adriatic Model Forest Project, a contribution in Albania”. In the publication will be included all activities done for the Model Forest in Albania, as well as the Albanian presentations presented at the different international meetings in the framework of Adriatic Model Forest Project.
Although AMF project is finished, Albanian partner is continuing with implementation and consolidation activities about the Model forest and here mentioned activities are the great outcomes.
