Meeting in island of Brac
Institute for Adriatic Crops from Split, organized a meeting 11th April with stakeholders from island of Brac, in the offices of the Municipality of Nerezista.
The meeting was attended by representatives of private forest owners, representatives of the Forestry office Brac, associations of farmers, cheese, wine, etc. Some stakeholders were already familiar with the concept of the model forest and with a work of International and Mediterranean Model Forest Network from AMF technical workshops held in Split.
It was further presented the way of operation of the first Model Forest in Croatia “Mirna River Basin” in Istria and the IPA “Adriatic Model Forest” project whose goal is the establishment of the first Model Forest in Dalmatia. Some of the stakeholders were participating in drafting the first action plan of the model previously so they recognize key issues and further steps of the process of bringing a strategic plan.
All present stakeholders were invited to participate in developing the Strategic Plan and in the creation of the first model forests in Dalmatia.
Local meeting in Sibenik-Knin County
In accordance with the previously defined boundaries of Model Forest in Dalmatia, the project team Sibenik-Knin county called local municipalities to express their interest for participating in the project, which was followed by numerous letters of interest.
In addition to the previous meetings, which are held separately with the various stakeholders (from the public, private and civil sector) in the pilot area of the future Model Forest in Dalmatia a first workshop was organized on 28th April 2014 in City hall of Sibenik.
Lucija Auzina from AMF team of Sibenik-Knin County presented an Adriatic model forest project and its objectives.
Lukrecija Butorac from Institute for Adriatic crops from Split presented to the audience what was done so far for creation of the model forest at the pilot site in Dalmatia.
Present stakeholders has shown their interest for further involvement in the process.
